Welcome to the Agawam Dog Park

The mission of the Agawam Dog Owners Group was to create a fenced in off-leash dog park where well-behaved dogs could exercise in a clean, safe environment without endangering or annoying people, property, and wildlife. This dream was realized in 2015 when, after years of planning, fundraising, hard work and volunteerism the Agawam Dog Park officially opened its gates to four-legged friends and their owners!! Not only did we succeed in our mission but we exceeded our expectations when it was announced that the Town of Agawam had received a grant from the Stanton Foundation for up to $250,000!! With support from ADOG and Community Preservation Act funds, town officials forged ahead with Berkshire Design Group to develop a beautifully landscaped and aesthetically pleasing recreational space not only for our furry friends but for their owners as well. There are many people to thank for the creation of the park starting with Scott Milliken who put an idea into action. Mayor Richard Cohen and former Planning Director Deb Dachos who had the knowledge and know-how to find, write and submit the grant proposal. Parks and Recreational Director Christopher Sparks who was instrumental in bringing the plans to reality. The volunteers and members of ADOG who have shown tremendous dedication and support with countless hours of their time. The businesses, the sponsors and people like you who have supported us through donations and fundraisers to help us achieve our goal. The Agawam Dog Park is truly the result of a community coming together with a common goal and desire to plan and build a recreational space for our canine citizens. There is more to be done, though! Additional structures, play equipment and other items will be added and we will continue to need your help in fundraising efforts. In the meantime, enjoy the park, respect it, keep it clean, and abide by the rules.
